Several people lately have asked me about how to use heightmaps in MB3D. I don't use them a lot, but I can explain the basics on how to use them in the limited way that I do. As usual, I make no claim to being an expert. The way I work is the best way for me, and I would never be so arrogant as to suggest my way is a better way or the best way for everyone. It's the best way for me and my work flow. This Journal is for beginners. Note: Click on the title of this Journal to open it on a new page and it should visually look much better organized. Let's begin~
I think the reason some people have trouble with heightmaps is because of where their

I was just looking for something to do, and though it might be interesting for some of you see the work flow process I went through for a fractal yesterday. This is not a tutorial. It's just a visual representation of my searching for something that I hoped would be interesting, and if I got lucky, something unique as well. I'm not saying I accomplished either of those goals, but I like where I ended up, and in the process saved many parameters that could be further developed and possibly become worth posting at some point in time.
I decided to start with the formula ABoxModKali, as I have seen Tim, (aka timemit (https://www.deviantart.com/timemit)) using it a lot lately.
How to clean up your image background ~
Wow. I haven't done a journal in ages. I thought I would share a little trick for getting a nice clean background when you want to isolate a structure in Mandelbulb 3D. Why? Because sometimes the structures behind the main focus of your image or the main structure are either just small repeats of the main structure, or they are fragmented and in one way or another just not as interesting. Or the background might bury the foreground object in detail or draw attention away from what you really want the viewer to focus on. People strive for a lot of detail, and that's fine, and sometimes it works. But o
